2. Why Collaboration Matters
Given the largely pre-commercial status of the ocean energy sector, delivering the ambitions of this flagship call requires a consortium with an established understanding of the sector’s innovation challenges, commercialisation barriers and future development priorities. This can only be achieved by bringing together organisations with extensive experience across research, industry and government, together with a proven track record of collaboration within the European ocean energy community.
3. Our Consortium
To address this challenge, OceanBoost has brought together a uniquely experienced management team that provides direct representation across many of the organisations that have helped shape the European ocean energy landscape to date. This includes the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA), members of the European Technology and Innovation Platform (ETIP Ocean), including the authors of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), the SET Plan Implementation Working Group (IWG) for Ocean Energy, and the International Energy Agency Ocean Energy Systems (IEA-OES) Technology Collaboration Programme. The unparalleled experience of the consortium, built through many years of engagement with the ocean energy sector, has provided a detailed understanding of the technological, industrial and policy challenges that continue to influence commercial deployment.
4. Our Approach
As well as leading the delivery of the SRIA, the consortium has also undertaken significant work to refine the proposed project scope and identify the areas where demonstration activities can deliver the greatest impact. This has included targeted consultation with technology developers, researchers, industrial partners and government representatives from across Europe through a programme of one-to-one interviews and stakeholder engagement. The outcomes of this work have been used to inform the project’s demonstration themes and validation activities, ensuring they reflect the priorities and needs of the wider ocean energy community.
5. Expression of Interest
Today, the OceanBoost consortium is pleased to launch its Expression of Interest for the demonstration projects. We look forward to receiving applications and to working with organisations from across Europe to deliver a collaborative project that supports the continued development and commercialisation of the ocean energy sector.
